Ferguson Center Volunteer Opportunities
Ferguson Center has a corps of dedicated volunteers, and there are always opportunities to join our team! Interested individuals should love the performing arts, enjoy working with the public, be team players, and partner with us in fostering an inclusive environment and providing exceptional customer service.
Patron Services hosts volunteer orientation and training sessions during August and at the beginning of each calendar year. To be considered, please complete the online application.
Requirements and Information
Requirements include arriving before the event and staying shortly afterward to assist with front-of-house operations. In addition, volunteers must:
- Attend and complete annual orientation and training sessions;
- Be able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, read tickets, and navigate in a dark theatre;
- Assist in the event of an emergency (training provided);
- Adhere to the dress code;
- Carry out duties as assigned, including (but not limited to) greeting, answering general questions about the venue, directing patrons, scanning tickets, ushering, stuffing/distributing playbills/programs, helping with lobby setup, coat check, concessions, and merchandise sales, as well as assisting patrons requiring special accommodations.
Nearly all communication with volunteers is conducted via email and our online scheduling system. Volunteers can review a calendar of events 2-3 weeks in advance and may request to work specific performances. The patron services manager determines the final schedule, and there is no guarantee that volunteers will be assigned to requested shifts/events.
Benefits
Benefits include seeing some (or most) of the assigned performance, having access to complimentary tickets on occasion, receiving discounts on ticket purchases, and attending the annual volunteer appreciation event at the end of each season.
